Pukou economy developing zone is a province level developing zone, whose establishment was approved by the people’s government of Jiangsu. It is located in the central area of the Pukou new district, which is on the north shore of Changjiang River. It faces the Changjiang River, and backs on Laoshan Mountain, and it is in the opposite site of CBD of Nanjing Hexi District. The Pukou Economy Developing Zone is the key base of high-tech industries under the policy of “developing along the Changjiang River, cooperating by the two sides, from developing within side to developing crossing sides”. It is the first choice of locations for high-tech industries, such as developing biological medicine and electronic machines. The layout covers an area of 16 square kilometers, of which there are 8 square kilometers for industries. It encourages items with high-tech component, large investment scale and non-pollution property. At present, it has shown its flourishing tendency of the mass effect of characteristic industries, with biological medicine, electronics and high-grade textile leading the way.

  The Biological Medicine Zone covers an area of 4 square kilometers, it has four sub-functional bases: Integrated Medicine Manufacturing Base, Chinese Traditional Medicine Manufacturing Base, Medicine R&D Base and Testing Base.

  The Electronics Zone has 2 square kilometers. Until now, a passel of high-tech enterprises in electronics manufacturing have settled in this zone, including Sanle Technology with an investment amount of 600 million RMB, Songzhi Electronics with investment amount of 30 million USD, Shihan Pattern and Hanxu Technology.

  The High-grade Textile Zone covers an area of 2 square kilometers. It has been entered by several leading enterprises, such as DOGI Textile, who has invested nearly 100 million USD, and Zhongmai Technology, who has contributed tax by over 300 million RMB.

  At present, there have been 3 standardized premises with a total area of 2,000 square meters. Two of the premises are 96.24m X 48.24m with a height of 7.5 meters, and the other one is 48.24m x18.24m, with a height of 8.5 meters plus accommodation for 5 ton traveling crane. Another 8 standardized premises with various specifications, totally 35,000 square meters, will be upon completion by the end of the first half year of 2006, which are applicable to light industries, textile and medicine enterprises.
